Description of the clinic
The Assisted Conception Unit (ACU) at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is an NHS fertility service established in 1991. It offers a range of assisted reproduction treatments including intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT), surgical sperm extraction, egg and sperm donation, freezing and storing sperm and eggs (up to 55 years), freezing and storing embryos, and ovarian tissue freezing (cryopreservation). The unit is licensed to carry out stem cell research. It provides counselling services to all patients starting treatment. The facility includes state-of-the-art labs, theatres, and procedure rooms. The unit is part of a larger NHS Foundation Trust with multiple hospitals and community services.
