Description of the clinic
BCRM is an independent fertility clinic established in 1983 as a joint research project between the University of Bristol and Southmead Hospital. The clinic relocated to its current purpose-built facility at 135 Aztec West, Bristol in 2021. BCRM offers comprehensive assisted reproduction services including IVF, ICSI, IUI, fertility diagnostics, egg donation, sperm donation, fertility preservation (egg and sperm freezing), recurrent miscarriage investigations, and pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT-A, PGT-SR, PGT-M). The clinic is HFEA licensed (centre No. 0295) and treats both NHS and private patients. The clinic reports success rates above national average, with IVF and ICSI fresh cycle success rates stated as 19% higher than the national average. The laboratory is the only one in Bristol with long-standing validated results. The clinic is led by Dr Valentine Akande, a consultant gynaecologist and fertility expert with over 20 years of specialist experience. Services include transvaginal ultrasound scanning, semen analysis, hormone testing, tubal testing (HyCoSy, HSG, laparoscopy), immune testing, genetic testing, and advanced embryology techniques including EmbryoScope+ time-lapse imaging. The clinic offers fertility counselling services free of charge to patients undergoing treatment.
