Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla - Servicio de Obstetricia y Ginecología

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service (Servicio de Obstetricia y Ginecología) is a department within Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, a tertiary-level public hospital in Santander, Cantabria, Spain. The service provides comprehensive reproductive and gynaecological care including: surveillance of normal pregnancy and treatment of high-risk pregnancy; prenatal diagnosis via ultrasound, amniocentesis, and funiculocentesis; assistance with normal and pathological labour; Doppler ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration; surveillance of normal and pathological postpartum period; assisted reproduction and infertility treatment; laparoscopic procedures (diagnostic and surgical); gynaecological oncology; hysteroscopy and colposcopy; outpatient care; tubal ligation via laparoscopy; urinary incontinence treatment; legal pregnancy termination; family planning; and breast surgery with guided biopsy. The department has a team of specialists including a Service Head (Jefa de Servicio), Section Head, multiple specialist physicians, residents, and technical staff. The hospital was founded in 1929 and operates approximately 900 beds with 30 operating theatres equipped with advanced technology including two Da Vinci robots.
