Description of the clinic
The Human Reproduction Unit (URH) of Hospital Universitario Virgen de las Nieves in Granada has been operating for over 25 years as a pioneer in assisted reproduction within the public healthcare system. The unit established one of Spain's first sperm banks in 1980, developed an IVF-ET program in 1986, and subsequently implemented techniques including ICSI and oocyte donation. It serves couples with transmissible infectious diseases. The unit is the most active public center in Andalusia with the broadest range of reproductive medicine services. The unit maintains research and teaching activities, with members participating in national and international scientific societies and expert committees. It has trained residents and embryologists who work in other centers across the community, country, and Europe. The unit offers SEF courses for reproduction professionals and operates the ESGRE (Granada School of Reproduction).
