Description of the clinic
Wales Fertility Institute (WFI) is an NHS facility managed by Swansea Bay University Health Board, operating across two sites: WFI-Cardiff at University Hospital of Wales and WFI-Neath at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The clinic provides a full range of assisted reproduction treatments including IVF, ICSI, IUI, embryo freezing, egg freezing, and fertility preservation services. WFI operates dedicated andrology laboratories at Cardiff and Singleton Hospital providing diagnostic semen analysis, post-vasectomy analysis, and sperm cryopreservation. The service accepts both NHS and self-funded patients. The embryology and andrology team comprises 15 highly skilled reproductive scientists led by consultant embryologist Dr Paul Knaggs (HFEA Person Responsible). WFI offers treatments for various fertility conditions including male infertility, endometriosis, unexplained infertility, and provides specialized services for transgender and gender-diverse patients seeking fertility preservation.
