Our assessment: The Department of Human Reproduction (Unit of In Vitro Fertilization and Cryopreservation Bank) began operations in 1996 and is the only unit in the Greek National Health System (ESY) and a pilot unit for other public units created later. The department also collaborates with the Miscarriage Clinic/Center and the Immunology-Histocompatibility Department to address cases of couples with repeated failed IVF attempts and other infertility problems through comprehensive diagnostic immunological testing.
