Description of the clinic
Gateshead Fertility is a purpose-built, self-contained fertility unit founded in 1996, located at Level 3, Jubilee Wing, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. The clinic provides NHS-funded and private assisted reproduction treatments including ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), embryo freezing, frozen embryo treatment, donor sperm, donor eggs, donor embryos, shared motherhood, surgical sperm retrieval, and sperm freezing. The clinic performs approximately 450 fresh and 200 frozen cycles per year. The team includes consultant gynaecologists specialising in reproductive medicine, embryologists, fertility nurses, and support staff. The clinic uses EmbryoScope time-lapse imaging technology and EmbryoGlue as standard. Treatments are available for NHS-funded patients from Gateshead, South Tyneside, Cumbria, North of Tyne, and County Durham Health Authority, as well as self-funding patients.
